I'm pretty sure that The Daily What blocked me.
I was still “following” them - undid that now - but not a single one of their posts has shown up on my dash for about a week or so. The only time I see one of their posts is when someone else reblogs them. The only reason I can think for this: I called them out one too many times for stealing posts and material from other people and not crediting them. Oh well.

ShortFormBlog: President Obama exempts US citizens... →
shortformblog: then On the last day of 2011, President Obama signed the National Defense Authorization Act which, amongst other things, allowed for the indefinite detention of US citizens suspected of terrorism. now Obama signed a policy directive today that exempts US citizens from that provision in the bill (Section 1022, if you’re keeping track). Here’s the fact sheet released by the White...

– Newt Gingrich • Explaining, when pressed by San Francisco Chronicle reporters Joe Garofoli and Carla Marinucci, what precisely he means when he decries “San Francisco values.” His response, as you can see, is not one that will go over well with LGBT advocates, or people who believe a personal...

Are NPR's new ethics guidelines the way for... →
shortformblog: With these words, NPR commits itself as an organization to avoid the worst excesses of “he said, she said” journalism. It says to itself that a report characterized by false balance is a false report. It introduces a new and potentially powerful concept of fairness: being “fair to the truth,” which as we know is not always evenly distributed among the sides in a public...

Santorum Says Separation of Church and State Isn’t...
Bloomberg: Republican presidential primary hopeful Rick Santorum said he doesn’t believe in the separation of church and state, noting that a speech on the topic by former President John F. Kennedy makes him want to “throw up.” “I don’t believe that the separation of church and state is absolute,” Santorum said in an interview today on ABC’s “This Week” program. “The First Amendment means the...

Style: Ithaka →
washingtonpoststyle: This poem, by C.P. Cavafy, was read at journalist Anthony Shadid’s memorial at the American University of Beirut Tuesday. As you set out for Ithaka hope the voyage is a long one, full of adventure, full of discovery. Laistrygonians and Cyclops, angry Poseidon—don’t be afraid of them: you’ll never find things like that on your way as long as you keep your thoughts raised...

– Vermont resident Frances Herbert • Discussing the issues her wife, Takaka Ueda, is facing. Herbert is legally married to Ueda — a native of Japan and her partner of 13 years — and in shock, after the Department of Homeland Security sent a letter denying Ueda’s request to stay in the country. Ueda...

Tribune's LA Times launches paywall disguised as... →
shortformblog: producermatthew: You know, a “membership program,” like what you might enroll in at Costco: The cost of the Los Angeles Times’ paywall will translate to $1.99 for news consumers with a print subscription or $3.99 for readers without a print subscription, meaning digital-only access will cost around $16 for people who live outside of the LA Times’ print delivery footprint. The...

Comic Sans Criminal →
thesemicullen: nolagrrlnyc: I did not know that a redeeming quality of this abused font is that it has been found to make reading easier for dyslexics. That’s kind of cool.  Unpopular opinions: I still like Nic Cage and I’ve never had a problem with Comic Sans. But what are your thoughts on Papyrus?
