Area Dog’s Rock Bottom Same As His Peak

Cat gets caught barking by a human and resumes meowing

Sarah: I spoke to my dad yesterday and he is working on getting the license for his motorcycle by borrowing a smaller bike with which to take and pass the test.
Because his bike is big and has a sidecar and it’s hard to test with. I told him that’s cheating and he sees otherwise.

Me: Well, that’s like saying I’m not qualified to drive an suv cause I tested with a Honda.

Sarah: Yeah but you have to get different licenses for two vs. three wheels! He has a sidecar for the dog btw I don’t know if I made that clear.

Once the transcript of Bernie Sander’s 124-page, nine-hour, one-man filibuster came out, I thought it would be fun to make an animated movie out of it using Unfortunately, Xtranormal sort of explodes when you post more than 20,000 characters, which amounts to just the first six pages of the filibuster transcript. Nonetheless, it’s kinda fun seeing and hearing the filibuster as told by a cute puppy. Or is that a teddy bear? No, it’s a puppy.

Creepy awesome.

According to reports from witnesses and over Twitter, MPD officers have shot and killed a dog at the Adams Morgan Day Festival at approximately 1:15 p.m. Police are currently on the scene and have cordoned off the area around the entrance to the Brass Knob. Details are still surfacing and we will update as we confirm information.

UPDATE (2:05 p.m.): According to an unnamed witness to the shooting, the incident stemmed from a scuffle between two pets, a poodle and rottweiler, in front of the Brass Knob bar at 2311 18th Street. The respective owners of the two dogs, along with bystanders, separated and held down the two dogs. The owner of the rottweiler suffered a minor bite from his own dog. An MPD officer then ordered bystanders to release the rottweiler, lead it down the stairwell to the Brass Knob and fired a single shot. Crime scene investigators are still on the scene.

UPDATE (2:25 p.m.): A picture taken from the scene has been added. It is unclear weather the larger dog was a rottweiler or pitbull, but reports show that it did not bite anyone. An employee from the neighboring Spaghetti Garden received a small bite wound from the poodle.

First comment on the website:

I was less than 20 feet away when it happened. larger dog bit this small white dog on the paw and wouldn’t let go and it took the two owners a while to wrestle them apart. Afterwards as the owner of the larger dog that seemed to be doing the biting was holding his dog down the police came. The cops wrestled the dog down in to the stepwell in front of the brass knob and the one of them pulled out his gun and shot it.

It was one of the more disturbing things I’ve ever seen and looked like a huge breach of protocol. I can’t imagine why they didn’t call animal control, have them take the dog away then determine what sort of public danger it represented. It shouldn’t be the officer’s discretion to just put down the dog once it was under control not to mention discharging your firearm on one of the busiest streets in the district during a street festival no less.

This is why the community doesn’t trust the police. One cop on a power trip can just decide to shoot your dog and you can’t do anything about it.

And this isn’t the first, and certainly won’t be the last, time an MPD officer decided taking out his gun was justifiable, despite it certainly not being.
